Nixing the Vampires

It isn’t the garlic clove chain

around the neck trick anymore

to ward off the

modern day

vampires

who tap into the open

channels of my heart

and leave fang marks.

There are emotional vampires that roam the world sapping our exuberance.

The quickest way to

turn around an energy sucker

these days is

simply to

say

no.

Turning off the radio

completely

by  receiving no signal,

no dialing in

to the carnage frequency,

and

as brutal as that sounds,

it

is

effective.

Done

with

fang marks on the heart.

I so agree! Turning off, saying no, getting on with our own agendas is vital to our spiritual survival.

  2. Susannah says:

Words of wisdom and wonderful writing, you can’t get better than that! Wonderful. 🙂

  3. Photodiction says:

I like how you’ve tackled all the distractions – they are indeed like vampires sucking away at our life and energy. And yet, the ending, with the fang marks on the heart, seems to suggest that as much as we might turn them off, they will still leave a mark. Perhaps we can’t completely shut ourselves off from the world and its effects?
